This Gourmet Lentil Blend is a seasonal blend of some of our best-selling lentils including French Green, Petite Crimson, Golden, Black Beluga, Spanish Pardina and Ivory White Lentils. These lentils combine to form the perfect blend for soupssome of the smaller ones thicken and add body to the soup while others retain their shape and unique texture. Lentils are the seed of a small shrub that are harvested and dried. They have been eaten for over 8,000 years and originated in the Southwestern Masa along the Indus River.
The quick cooking nature of lentils make them an obvious choice for all kinds of cuisine! Try them simmered in your favorite soup or stew, or baked with roasted vegetables and andoule sausage.
Carefully sort lentils and rinse thoroughly. Combine 1 cup lentils and 4 cups water in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until tender, skimming any foam from water.
